Mr. Joseph Kasibante
(Joe), the founder and Executive Director
General of N-TAPO |
 |
N-TAPO
is governed by two bodies: the General Assembly
and Board of Directors. In general N-TAPO
is typical microcosm of the citizenry roles.
Joe with Seven concerned citizens is the
founder and Executive Director General of
N-TAPO. He successfully sailed it through
its infant stage of registration as NGO
and in its election as a member to the World
Taxpayers' Associations during the September
2003 Conference in St. Petersburg Russia.
Currently N-TAPO commands over 3,000 members
and it has become a popular Civil Organization
through helping taxpayers realize their
legal rights. In promoting a stable political,
economic and social environment, we ensure
that the Government respects the standing
orders in matters related to ethical financial
and social management.
National Taxpayers and Tax Protection Organization
has built strong constituents of support
for its activities and among them the Inspector
General of Government, Anti-Corruption Coalition
(U), Ministry of Local Governments, Finance,
Uganda Revenue Authority, private companies
Associations, individuals and the World
Taxpayers' Associations member countries.
Since its inception N-TAPO has pulled together
skilled resource persons for its anti-corruption
campaign and proper ethical revenue collection
and expenditure of public revenues. It has
also benefited from the enthusiasm and will
power from the local community.
Bear in mind: 1- Any tax cut is a direct
income in a taxpayer’s pockets. 2
-A group of individuals acting together
is far more influential than one individual
acting alone and they represent votes to
politicians. Therefore such a group is taken
more seriously.
Taxpayers worldwide actively influence and
participates in Government decision making
and at t the end, taxpayers are in better
position to hold Government officials accountable
for their actions.
That was our moral obligation we had to
do on ethical grounds. Building a strong
voice and a group that could advocate for
their rights through block voting as the
final check on the government overweening
powers.
In the end however, no constitution or any
law can be self enforcing; government officials
must respect their oath to uphold the constitution
and we the people, must be vigilant in seeing
that they do!
Thank you,
Joe Kasibante
Executive Director General. |
